Siberian Sculptors

About
The distinctive Siberian signature of sculptors has been shaped by the unique conditions and traditions of the region, which can easily be recognized in their personal style. The Siberian landscape, with its dense forests, harsh climate, and variety of organic forms, has become an integral part of the creative process for sculptors, who draw inspiration from the power and majesty of Siberian nature. In their works, one can see tectonic fractures reminiscent of mountain ranges or smooth lines resembling the curves of rivers. The use of natural materials such as stone, wood, metal, and others adds a unique character to their works, creating a deep connection to their native region. Ice, used in some temporary installations, further emphasizes the unique spirit of Siberia
The creative duo of sculptors Doroshenko and Skvortsov has been mentored and inspired by world-renowned masters such as Nikolay Polissky, Alexander Ponomarev, Sergey Katran, and Andrey Filippov. Artem Doroshenko and Mikhail Skvortsov collaborate with the internationally recognized sculptor Konstantin Yevdokimov, known for his expressive works in Russia, Italy, Switzerland, Montenegro, Germany, and France.
Throughout their creative and professional journey, Artem Doroshenko and Mikhail Skvortsov have been regular participants in numerous land art festivals: Yershov Islands, City Garden, Art Taiga, Siberian Land Art, Skaz, and others
The sculptural duo of Mikhail Skvortsov and Artem Doroshenko often explores themes related to the region's history, its people, and their way of life. In their works, one can find references to ancient myths as well as modern social issues, presented through the lens of Siberian perception. These elements create the unique Siberian signature that makes the works of Skvortsov and Artem Doroshenko both distinctive and deeply connected to their native region
Authors

A hereditary Siberian, Artyom Doroshenko, rightfully belongs to the guild of contemporary sculpture. From childhood, Artyom was fascinated by modeling and carving, showing a keen interest in various natural materials: hay, sand, clay, wood, ice
Later (2009-2013), Artyom received his professional education at the Novosibirsk State Art School (NGHU). It was there that he met his future assistant and fellow sculptor, the young Mikhail Skvortsov, with whom they continue to create the magic of sculptures by hand to this day

From an early age, Mikhail Skvortsov was surrounded by craftsmen in his family — his grandmother or grandfather would show him how to work with wood or stone, inspiring him to create his own works. The future sculptor regularly participated in school and city competitions, winning awards and recognition, which reinforced his confidence in the path he had chosen
The works of Mikhail Skvortsov and his mentor, Artyom Doroshenko, are often characterized by their massiveness, expressive texture, and apparent roughness, emphasizing the strength and resilience inherent to Siberians. These forms symbolize not only nature but also the endurance of the human spirit
